Across the harbor from Sydney, about 1.5 hours by car, Botany Bay was the first landing point of Capt.  James Cook, who claimed Australia for England in 1770.  He rejected it as a settlement site in favor of the bay to the north, Sydney Harbor (good call).  His landing site has been preserved as  a National Park.

We stopped for lunch along the way, and soon arrived at beautiful Botany Bay Park

We spent the afternoon walking round the rocky beach.  Here are a few shots of the boys, plus some scenery. 
It was a grey day, and we've never seen anything like the combination of carved rocks, blue surf and expansive views.
